DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA . Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Welcome and transfer to Hotel Torremolinos and free time.
Day 2 & 3. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK ). (B/L/D). Leave your hotel in San José early in the morning. Admire the biodiversity of astonishing protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park , a primary forest in 95% of its extension. Have a taste of our delicious Costa Rican breakfast in route.
Be our special guest in a banana processing and packaging plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica's prime product (subject to availability). Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals. Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and delicious lunch as we welcome you to LAGUNA LODGE. After lunch, we will visit the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero . A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge. Optional Night Tour : Walk on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July through September). (B/L/D).
Day 4. TORTUGUERO & TRANFER TO ARENAL VOLCANO : Morning tour: Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best shots of a real Caribbean sunrise. Breakfast upon arrival to the lodge. Departure to Arenal Volcano by boat and bus. Arrival to Arenal by middle Afternoon. Check In at Hotel Villas Vilma. Transfer by Shuttle bus.
After get your room, we will visit the Tabacon Hot Springs, where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. After all this, buffet dinner at Tabacon Hot Springs. (B,L,D)
Day 5. ARENAL VOLCANO . (B). Arenal is a beautiful cone-shaped volcano rising out of flat, surrounding plains. It is the most active volcano in the country. In the daytime, clouds of ash and smoke frequently billow into the sky. On clear nights, spectators are occasionally treated to eruptions of lava and burning rocks that explode into the air and shower down the cinder cone. Even when it is overcast, the rumblings venting and molten lava glowing through the clouds afford a very special experience. From your Hotel, the Arenal have a spectacular view. After Lunch, transfer to San Jose . Overnight at Hotel Torremolinos. Free evening. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Day 6. TORTUGA ISLAND CRUISE (B, L): This one day voyage into the exotic Gulf of Nicoya is perhaps the most enchanting experience to be enjoined in this charming and beautiful country. From our cast-off to the open sea, history, legend and breath taking views are yours to experience and treasure. We will go sailing past San Lucas, the famous former jail island, then on to Gypsy and Sugar Loaf islands and we make landfall at midday . In a magic cove, we pause a few hours to indulge in swimming, shell collecting, snorkelling or just plain relaxing in the sun or at the bar. Our delicious lunch features fresh sea foods with lunch fruits and vegetables from the area. From our 6:00am pick up at your hotel to an approximate 7:00pm return, a festive party atmosphere, with excitement and sport, will make for a marvellous one day journey into the myriad hideaway ports of the pirates of yesterday. Overnight at Hotel Torremolinos. Dinner on your own.
Day 7. SUPER COMBO TOUR: Full Day Adventure . (B, L).
The SUPER COMBO is the most natural way to experience the beauty of Costa Rica , while actively participating in some wonderful soft adventure tours. We will visit wilderness areas at the same time as we enjoy various special tours, all in full contact with nature. This journey will submerge us into the great diversity of natural activities available in Costa Rica , making the adventure and wildlife observation an album of experiences not soon to be forgotten.
The Costa Rica adventure tour starts with a 90 minutes bus ride to Sarapiqui town, located on the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica . Arriving by 9:00 AM to Hacienda Pozo Azul, we will start our adventure with a horseback riding trip into the rain forest, where the Zip Lines are waiting for you. After this, we continue our trip on the tree tops of this beautiful and unique place. Ending after enjoy the longest cable, that cross the Sarapiqui River , a delicious buffet lunch will be waiting for. In the afternoon, the whitewater rafting trip (class III) will end this SUPER COMBO TOUR , the best way to experience the real adventure of Costa Rica . Overnight at Hotel Torremolinos. Dinner on your own.
Day 8 POAS VOLCANO & LA PAZ WATERFALLS : Enjoy the contrasts of urban and rural areas, as we drive to the Poas Volcano National Park and continue up the mountains toward San Pedro de Poas. The good climate and fertile soils make this area very productive and the landscape beautiful. Dairy farming, coffee, sugar cane, vegetables, all can be seen during this ride. Poas Volcano National Park is considered the largest geyser in the world, due to its explosive, geyser-like eruptions, which it frequently displays at irregular intervals. This park offers much more than just the spectacular volcanic activity and the visitor will be struck by the intense green color of the foliage and the great variety of wild flowers.
The most conspicuous plant in the park is the poor people's umbrella, whose leaves grow up to 2 meters in diameter. When we walk on the trails to Lake Botos we can admire this plant. As well as some of the birds found here and the large population of colorful frogs and toads. On a clear day we will see the lake at the bottom of the crater, whose muddy waters change colors depending on the degree of volcanic activity. This park has excellent facilities in its visitors' center, where they will provide us with more visual information on the flora and fauna to be found at this park with a cloud forest habitat, as well as information on the geological formation of the mountains.
After we enjoy this amazing place, we will be visiting La Paz Waterfall Gardens for enjoy the beauty of some of the best waterfalls in Costa Rica . At his place you will have the opportunity to see the largest Butterfly Garden of the world and learn about these beautiful insects. After this, you can walk along the concrete paths into this unique rain forest and enjoy its rich biodiversity, admire the Hummingbird Gallery and taste a real Costa Rican meal in the restaurant. Day 9. TRANSFER OUT . Transfer to the International Airport and Good bye. (B).
